The creative process of roof tiles - an artisan approach

Made from locally sourced natural ingredients and hand laid by the gentle hands of artisans and artisans. All roof tiles are at the heart of their creators, who seek to redefine the rules of creativity and design every day.

From the nearly limitless design potential offered by a wide range of colours and shapes, coupled with a commitment to exceptional quality, it's no surprise that roof tiles are one of the most popular roofing materials of choice for Australians.

Terracotta Warriors have been in use since ancient times, and although centuries have passed, the creative process has remained largely unchanged. Terracotta Warriors manufacturing is one of the few surviving industries where humans still play an integral role in its formation. No mass production, no shortcuts; every tile is crafted by artisans passionate about bringing your roof to life.

Terracotta roof tiles have undergone an important journey from first harvest to final installation.

The first step begins with collections in the spring and summer months. Terracotta is harvested from terracotta clay deposits across Australia. The sites are naturally occurring and renewable, meaning there is zero risk of environmental damage during harvesting.

Afterwards, the clay is shaped into a smooth, chocolate-like texture, often with the help of molds and other helpful aids, to bring the final design to life. This is an extensive process as there is usually a large number of tiles that need to be shaped at any time.

When the shape of the tiles is perfected, the still-moist clay is moved into a kiln and fired to a temperature of about 1,000 degrees Celsius. Depending on design specifications, this process can take days or even weeks to prepare the clay.

Once dry, roof tiles undergo numerous quality assurance tests before distribution. They are subjected to simulations of real-world events and emergencies such as fire strikes, storms and heavy rain. Successful batches go to public distribution, and failed batches are recycled and reused, so nothing is wasted.

Concrete roof tiles were first commonly used in the early 20th century and have become a popular contemporary alternative to terracotta tile roofs. Revered for its amazing strength and range of design options, concrete tiles are a rapidly growing modern choice for homeowners around the world.

The process of making concrete roof tiles begins with collecting smooth sand that is harvested from natural deposits; filtering the sand to remove large objects such as rocks and other debris. From there, the prepared sand is mixed with other basic ingredients, including cement, water, and iron oxide, the latter of which produces a specific color. Once the mixture is mixed, concrete is born.

The green concrete is then ready to be moulded into roof tiles. This is achieved by injecting concrete into an extruder, which extrudes the product into a continuous sheet. The machine then carefully crafts and cuts the sheets into tiles with uniform precision, so that each product is perfectly uniform.

Once formed, concrete blocks are heated in large ovens; the time they spend in them can vary from a few hours to a full day, depending on their shape.

After drying, they undergo a number of quality assurance tests, including visual inspection and environmental hazard testing. If the batches are successful, they will proceed to public distribution.

Roof tiles have the power to unleash the unique beauty of your home, creating a truly one-of-a-kind effect. You'll be proud to know that your roof tiles were carefully crafted and installed by Australian artisans passionate about bringing your home into the next generation of design.
